You are destined for greatness--but its not what you think!
You have also given me the shield of Your salvation;
Your gentleness has made me great.
2 Samuel 22:36 NKJV
Consider these truly great things about yourself:
- He has created you great (His goodness in you--you are marvelously formed from deep within)
- He has redeemed you great (His nature in you now--the new creation life seeking to surface)
-
He has destined you for greatness (Christ fully formed in you--the hope of glory to come)

This divine purpose is absolute and unstoppable for it is His desire and purpose. It is yours if you want it. Such salvation is forced on no one and yet, it is never taken away from anyone either! As long as you want it, as long as you call on His Name, it will always be given to you (see Romans 10:9-13). And that my friends is an offer you can't afford to refuse. Indeed, it is the offer of an eternal lifetime of sharing in His greatness.
But--you knew there was a but--He has not allowed you to look great, feel great or experience being great much, if any of the time. Such worldly “greatness” (in the egotistical way our flesh wants it) is not helpful for growth in Christ, the true riches, the true Greatness.
He has had to do just the opposite—to let you discover that self has nothing to offer you, so that you will turn from seeking greatness in yourself and discover that Jesus has everything you need. Just as King David discovered (the opening quote) His gentleness with you will ultimately make you great--as you learn to live your life in Him, and through Him, and with Him and for Him.
But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God — and righteousness and sanctification and redemption — that, as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 1:30-31
