Why the heart matters

Is your head too big/your heart too small?
Enlightenment culture and the pride of man have over-emphasized the mind. The mind is a gateway: all thoughts have to pass through it, but the heart is the seat of power and controls the deep issues of life. In your head you may know that Jesus is Lord, but who reigns in your heart:  Satan, self, or Jesus?

For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts…  Mark 7:21

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.   Proverbs 4:23
 

It's not either or!
We are contrasting the head and the heart in order to highlight their differences, not to choose sides! Consider these differing qualities and operations: what the head does is vital and necessary; what the heart can do is sublime!
